Mental Health & Wellness Program

The Mental Health & Wellness Program at Nyumba Ya Agikuyu is committed to strengthening community wellbeing through mental health awareness, connection, and culturally safe support spaces. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by individuals and families in the diaspora, this program promotes emotional resilience, open dialogue, and access to appropriate mental health resources in a supportive and respectful environment.

We provide mental health awareness initiatives that reduce stigma, increase understanding, and encourage early support-seeking behaviors. Through trauma-informed healing circles, participants engage in guided conversations designed to foster trust, reflection, and collective healing. The program also offers family counselling referrals, connecting individuals and families to professional support services when needed.

To address the distinct needs within the community, we facilitate men’s mental health forums, creating safe spaces for honest discussions around stress, identity, and wellbeing, as well as women’s healing spaces focused on emotional health, empowerment, and peer support.

The Mental Health & Wellness Program promotes psychological safety, social connection, and holistic wellbeing, ensuring that community members have access to culturally responsive mental health support that strengthens individuals, families, and the broader community.
