A Home of Culture, Unity, and Heritage in Canada

About Us – Nyumba ya Agikuyu

Nyumba ya Agikuyu was born from simple family gatherings and spaces rooted in shared culture, storytelling, and connection. What began as a place to come together grew into a collective vision: to bridge cultural gaps for future generations while preserving the values and traditions that ground us.

Operating out of Edmonton, Alberta, with members across the Capital Region, Nyumba ya Agikuyu officially re-established and rebranded in 2023 under renewed leadership, including past leaders who helped safeguard and carry forward its foundational values.

Today, Nyumba stands as a vibrant social, cultural, and spiritual community, grounded in unity, resilience, stewardship, and respect.

We honour the shared heritage of the people of the Mountain and its surrounding regions, while remaining open, welcoming, and inclusive. Our community reflects a complete social and cultural unit—one that values belonging, intergenerational learning, and collective responsibility.

Through our initiatives, Nyumba has created meaningful impact by preserving cultural knowledge, nurturing traditions, and supporting community projects that benefit both our members and the wider society. Our work is guided by stewardship, strengthened through unity, and inspired by the responsibility to pass on what we have inherited.

At Nyumba ya Agikuyu, every gathering, every story, and every initiative strengthens our collective journey. We celebrate our past, empower our present, and shape our future—together.
